Limited Slots For Online Personal Training Available
Hey Everyone,
For those who do not live in the local San Antonio area, I have a couple of slots still available for online personal training and nutritional guidance.
While I am a competitive bodybuilder and a power lifter, I’m not like every other bodybuilding personal trainer on the internet that has every client follow their competition diet. My nutritional programs are specifically designed with each person’s condition and specific goals in mind.
To ensure the max amount of progress for each client, I ask that each client belongs to an at least decently equipped gym or fitness center. I can make exceptions for some decently equipped home gyms by being creative, but for extreme body transformations, I don’t want too many limitations.
IF you have access to a video camera, I’ll definitely give you preference, but it isn’t a requirement. It just gives me a chance to go over form for safety and to identify weaknesses. Smart Phones are ideal, as they give us the easy ability to pass videos back and forth to ensure proper form and technique.
My nutritional programs are intense, but I think that the people that seek my assistance desire that level. Every program is different and is based on your condition and goals. I have different people eating many different foods and combinations at different times.
Right now, I’m working with athletes, models, competitors and regular people who simply want to look better. I work on a case by case basis. I’m very objective and will only work with people in situations where we are both comfortable and are certain we can, together, make the most out of our time together.

Personal Trainer Question of the Day: Online Personal Training
Hey everyone,
I get a lot of inquiries about my online personal training services. Well, I’m a control freak. If I’ve never worked with you, I have a lot of questions for you. I received an email from a lady this weekend that is interested in possibly competing in a figure show. Since I’m often asked about my services, I thought I’d include my response to her on this blog (warning, I’m in-depth and long winded).

I’m glad you found my blog and found some use out of it. I do provide online training for several individuals: I am a bit selective on who I train because I want them to have the utmost success. I’m very particular about my reputation, and do not want to train absolutely everyone that contacts me.
With that being said, I prefer working with competitors. Here is my recommendation: make the determination when/where you want to compete, let’s work toward that and then reap the benefits of getting into show shape! I agree – staying in that condition year long is an impossible (and not even a beneficial) goal, but you can stay really close. I wouldn’t obsess with weight because what you weigh on stage is quite misleading (after depletion and re-composition), but you can stay close to your on-stage condition.
I have a few questions for you: what kind of facility do you workout in? I ask because I want to make sure that individuals are well equipped. I’ve had people ask me to train them with a dumbbell and a bench. I “could” work with them, but obviously, it isn’t conducive to reaching full potential Do you have full access to free weights, squat racks, etc?
What is your exercise experience? Tell me about nutritional habits, what your typical workouts look like, etc. Alcohol intake? Work schedule? Travel schedule? Are you able to video yourself doing certain exercises if needed (some complicated exercises may require adjustments). I simply don’t assume you’re doing exercises properly!
The more you can tell me about you, the easier a decision is for me to make.
My programs are simple: they’re regularly adaptive, require a ton of discussion (I stay in constant contact with all of my online clients) – I don’t limit questions, etc: I’d rather you ask me then wonder what to do/or if you’re doing it right. If you don’t understand an exercise, I’ll video it on the spot and walk you through with it (do you have a smart phone)?
I train all clients in phases. A phase simply has a primary goal and is determined on a) where you are, b) where you need improvement, and c) where we are trying to be.
I make regular adjustments based on your feedback, aches, pains, annoyances, etc. “Because it sucks and it is hard” isn’t enough to make me change it ;)
I’m very long winded and I’m very thorough – I’m this way with in-gym clients and out of gym clients. I give you full access to me: webcam, IM, text, phone, email, etc. If you have an iPhone 4, we can do facetime. I simply insist on success and communication – I put forth a lot of effort to make sure you’re on track. Since I don’t see you in my gym everyday, I put a lot more pressure on my online clients than I do my in-gym clients. I have a lot of clients that have moved away for their jobs, and of course, since I know them and have worked with them, it’s a bit easier for me to help them – but those I haven’t met, I do everything I can to put myself in the gym with them.

More Client “Congrats”!
Just wanted to take a second to congratulate my client Lynette for finishing her first half marathon in Dallas a couple of weeks ago. We worked together to ensure that her weight training complimented her run training, to maximize recovery via both training and nutritional protocols, and to minimize loss of lean body mass. During her preparation, we made many adjustments as recovery demands increased, and we kept her recovery optimized, allowing her to continue to train with high intensity and to keep making progress.

The Purposes of Performance Nutrition – My Focus
Food is fuel. Eat to live, don’t live to eat. How many other trite lines can we come up with this morning?
So, why do we eat? While most people will put happiness, stress, and enjoyment on that list, the truth is we eat because we have to. However, when it comes to body transformation, eating becomes the entire universe to most people, and is, by far, the most difficult thing for most people to get a handle on.
Regardless of what myths personal trainers, nutritionists, dieticians, and P90X Beach Body Coaches perpetuate, eating is much more than just calories in versus calories out. I have spent hours upon hours discussing the importance of nutrient timing and food selection as keys to body transformation. I see way too many people drop a bunch of weight and find out that they now have a mineral or nutrient deficiency, or even worse, they end up with a more serious health problem.
Wait a minute here: while we all want to look better, is looking better worth an induced thyroid issue or severe hypo or hyperglycemia issues? Is looking better worth being mentally unstable or on the verge of a nervous breakdown? If you don’t have the energy to get out of bed, how much does it matter that you look amazing?
My nutritional programs take on a full spectrum: yes, you will transform your body. But I also focus on the other things that most nutritional programs don’t – higher, more stable energy levels, complete mineral nutrient profile, optimum thyroid, pancreas, kidney, liver, and digestive health, pain management (no really, through food), higher performance levels and yes, maximum optimization of the metabolic system. I also fully expect my clients to have more relaxing and rewarding sleep.
Supplementation
The word supplement means “in addition to a whole part”. ANYTIME you see a nutritional program that revolves around a protein shake, a pill, or any other philosophy that is not real, whole food, be wary. There are very few supplements that provide any benefit at all, and most do absolutely nothing without the proper eating strategy and training program.
Nutrient Timing
I’ve discussed nutrient timing numerous times on this blog, and I suggest you perform a search here for “nutrient timing” to learn more. In a nutshell – a calorie is NOT a calorie, and based on activity and time of day, there’s a time to consume different nutrients (carbs, fats, and proteins) in different combinations at different times.
As a performance nutrition specialist, it is my responsibility to help you simplify the science behind nutrition. Unfortunately, most people in the fitness industry do not have the understanding of nutrition at the most finite levels to develop the proper program that covers the full spectrum of one’s health needs. Bottom line is that your fat loss and body transformation program should not sacrifice the other benefits of healthy eating, neglect the body’s needs and most importantly, should never induce an unhealthy condition. Understand that your body and your healthy are too important to hand over to a novice that is incapable of developing the proper nutritional strategy.

Two New Sites Up and Running

I opened two new websites, so check them out.
The first is the Official Site for the Caveman Lifestyle Program, www.cavemanprogram.com. The Caveman Principles are those that I use for individuals that are willing to do whatever it takes to reach their extreme fitness goals. It’s a scalable program for all fitness levels and when followed closely, the results are absolutely amazing.

Why You Cannot Fail
Hey San Antonio,
Some people are able to take a little bit of instruction and can run with it. Maybe they just need some broad guidelines to get started and can show up at their personal training appointments and make insane progress.
Others may need a more detailed plan based on their schedule, like this one:
Monday
5am: Wake up, 30 minutes cardio, level 8 on the elliptical
6am: 1/2c oatmeal + 6 egg whites + 1tbspn salsa
9am: Meal Replacement Protein Drink + 1 fish oil pill
12pm: 4oz flank steak + 1c mixed veggies + 1/2c brown rice
3pm: 4oz chicken breast + 1/2c brown rice
5pm: Weight lifting with personal trainer – Leg Day
6:30pm: 4oz seared ahi tuna, 2oz boiled shrimp, 1/2c whole grain pasta
8:30pm: Protein drink
Of course, this is just a sample, but this is the type of daily schedule we are willing to provide for our personal training clients both in the gym and online. OF course, if there’s any questions to it, we’re a call, text or an email away.
There’s no detail too great for us to go to help you reach your fitness, fat loss and body transformation goals.

I know that many of you have read my nutritional guidelines that I’ve posted more than a few times, but here I go a little deeper. Not sure why I was cut off, but I finished the video by wishing everyone a “Happy Ash Wednesday”.
Remember a few things – I have created my own nutritional program from experience and education. While many of my things follow convention, some of them are things that WILL deviate from popular diets such as the Atkins, South Beach, GI Diets, Mediterranean, etc.
For entertainment’s sake, I decided to post one of my son, Peyton, giving daddy one of his Oscar-worthy performances… Definitely a video I will cherish for a long time. Yes, he’s much cuter than I am.

San Antonio Personal Trainer: Sunday Update

Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope everyone is spending today with someone who is special to them!

Exercise Videos
I’ve been mentioning it forever, but we finally started putting it to action and I’m planning on recording every single exercise I can think of and listing them here on the blog. I think this will be an invaluable tool to help people all over the world reach their full body transformation potential.
Online Personal Training
With the video library being created, this will make my online personal training much easier to manage and enable me to take on a larger workload. I am very close to capacity for my online training, but once the videos are created, I’ll have better leverage of time and resources and will be able to accommodate many more online clients.
As I have mentioned in past posts: the programs will include complete nutritional programs, individually designed based on condition and goals, and a variety of training principles based on whatever your goals may be. I currently work with people from all points of the fitness spectrum: from professional athletes and fitness models to stay at home mothers and college students. Whether your goal is fat loss, muscle gain, increased athletic performance, bikini body preparation (hey, it’s in HUGE demand) or something that may not seem so common, drop me a line and let’s see if we’re a match.
With that being said, I will be using the same guidelines I use in my studio personal training business. What is that? I evaluate each and every potential client on a case by case basis and objectively determine if we’re a good fit to work together. My goal is getting you to your goals. That sounds like what you’ve read on every personal training site on the internet, but I take it a step further. I WANT you to have high expectations, as my expectations for you and your progress are very high. I only take on clients (in studio and online) that are willing to follow my guidelines to a “T” and who are going to do whatever it takes to get the most out of their programs.
As mentioned, I’ll be using email, videos, IM Web-camming, and telephone to guide each online client.
My services are like no other online personal trainers in the world – re-read that. When I train people online, I make sure that I duplicate my in-gym services to give them the greatest chance for fitness success. I always employ a no-excuses approach and hold every client very accountable, as consistency and hard work are the keys to success.
The Eight Week Body Transformation Program
Ok, I’ve had a lot of people ask me “what happens after eight weeks?” and the answer is I’m going to wait and see. Eight weeks was the initial time frame – In honesty, I intend on keeping it going permanently if there’s a demand.
Expanding my San Antonio Personal Training Studio
We have more than doubled the amount of equipment we have – so now, in total, I have 9 pieces of high end cardio equipment and more weight training equipment and machines than most full commercial gyms in San Antonio. The good part is that I’m working with the landlord of my strip center to move into a MUCH larger space to accommodate our equipment and to get it out of storage and into our personal training studio. We’re also in the process of adding a full time massage therapist to our staff, and having enough space to allow them to move their massage therapy practice inside of our personal training studio, while also offering a full line of nutritional supplements and recovery services such as electromagnetic stimulation and ultrasound therapy.
I have a very high sense of urgency here, and want to have everything in place by early to mid-March, with the exercise videos and online personal training in full swing by the end of next weekend (as I intend on recording 20-30 videos tonight :D).

Online Personal Training Slots Available
Hey San Antonio (and beyond),
I have decided to expand my online personal training business to offer my services to more individuals from around the world. I only allow myself to train no more than 15 people online at any given time to provide the highest level of service possible, so slots are extremely limited and they will fill up fast. As of now, there are 9 slots available. I evaluate each and every person as a candidate. I want to ensure that they’re serious and have the means to reach their goals, no matter how intense or extreme.
My online training programs consist of custom routines, both training and nutrition, based on where you are at physically and where you want to be. I train many individuals that are preparing for fitness competitions, weddings, vacations, reunions, general fat loss and body transformation and just better health. I also work with athletes that participate in sports such as football, track, basketball, baseball, volleyball, wrestling and power lifting. So whether your goal is performance, fat loss or body transformation, I can accommodate.
I do have requirements of what I’ll need from you (from an equipment standpoint). I go very in-depth, even as far as video taping specific exercises for you if you need that level of instruction. I also set aside time for you to meet with me via video chat, on the phone, or via email/IM conversations.
My online client success rate is extremely high, and I take a ton of pride in that.
Full nutritional guidance, forced progression, and constant communication – you will make extreme progress!
I use several different proven training techniques based on specific goals – from high volume and power lifting techniques to HIT and circuit training. Nutritionally, I focus on nutrient timing, carb cycling principles and ensuring that your macro and micro-nutrient profiles are complete and accommodate your training and physique goals.
